Change Doesn't Happen In a Straight Line

It's messy, nonlinear, and deeply personal—and what works for one person might not work for another.

That's why I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all method.

Instead, I draw from multiple evidence-based approaches to create something tailored specifically to you, your challenges, and your goals.

Whether you're working with me individually, with your partner, or as part of a team, my approach remains the same: curious, compassionate, and committed to helping you access your own wisdom and strength.

A Holistic Approach

I believe in honoring all of who you are—mental, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual—within the context of your unique cultural background.

This means we work with your whole system

Your thoughts and beliefs shape how you see yourself and the world. We'll explore the stories you tell yourself and the beliefs keeping you stuck.

Your emotions carry important information. Rather than pushing feelings away, we'll learn to listen to what they're telling you.

Your body holds wisdom your mind may not have words for. Real change happens when your nervous system feels safe enough to let go.

Your parts (from Internal Family Systems by Dr. Richard Schwartz) all have important roles—even the problematic ones. When your parts feel heard, they can relax and let your true Self lead.

Your relationships, spirituality, and culture shape your experience. We honor what gives your life meaning and respect your identity throughout our work.

When we engage all these dimensions, real transformation becomes possible. When one part shifts, everything else follows.

Specialised Frameworks I Draw From

My work is grounded in evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches that I integrate based on what's right for your unique situation.

Individual Therapy Approaches

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Understanding and integrating your inner world

Rather than seeing your inner critic or anxious part as problems to eliminate, we get to know them, understand their protective roles, and help them work collaboratively.

Developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz in the 1980s, IFS helps us understand and work with the different parts of you.

When your parts feel heard and unburdened, your true Self—characterized by curiosity, compassion, clarity, and calm—can lead.

IFS is particularly effective for:

  • Regaining perspective as you get to see your 'whole' system
  • Transforming unwanted habits and behavioural patterns
  • Working with social anxiety and performance anxiety
  • Healing specific fears and trauma responses

I hold a Level 2 Certificate in IFS and integrate this framework throughout my work.

Polyvagal-Informed Somatic Work

Working with the nervous system

Based on Dr. Stephen Porges' research, this approach recognizes that you can't think your way out of a dysregulated nervous system. Real change happens when we work directly with your nervous system.

Understanding the Three States:

  • Safe & Social (Ventral Vagal): Calm, connected, present
  • Fight or Flight (Sympathetic): Anxious, activated, ready to react
  • Freeze or Shutdown (Dorsal Vagal): Numb, disconnected, collapsed

Particularly Effective For:

  • Chronic anxiety and hypervigilance
  • Trauma and PTSD
  • Dissociation and numbness
  • Panic attacks
  • Difficulty feeling safe in relationships

In essence: We work with your body's wisdom to help your nervous system feel safe again.

BrainWorking Recursive Therapy (BWRT®)

Rapid change for specific challenges

A modern, evidence-based approach that works directly with your brain's pre-conscious processing. Particularly effective for anxiety, panic, phobias, and issues where you know logically something shouldn't bother you, but it still does.

BWRT works at the level where your automatic responses are generated—before conscious thought. This makes it uniquely effective for changing patterns that feel "stuck."

Note: A dedicated BWRT page is being developed.

  • Breaking unwanted habits
  • Reducing anxiety and stress
  • Building confidence
  • Overcoming phobias

Human Givens Approach

A practical approach based on understanding that we have innate emotional needs and natural resources.

Co-Active Coaching

A forward-focused approach for clarifying what you truly want and creating actionable steps to get there.

Systemic Therapy Methods for Couples, Families & Groups

I have also studied incredible research-based therapies which have changed my professional and personal life.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

Reshaping Emotional Bonds

Developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, EFT has a 70-75% success rate for distressed couples—and the effects last.

EFT helps you understand and reshape the emotional dance between you—the patterns that create distance and the vulnerable emotions driving them.

Three Stages:

  • De-escalation: Identify negative patterns
  • Restructuring: Access deeper emotions and needs
  • Consolidation: Solidify new patterns

Most couples need 12-20 sessions to complete the process.

Imago Relationship Therapy

Understanding How Your Past Shapes Your Present

Developed by Dr. Harville Hendrix and Dr. Helen LaKelly Hunt, Imago helps you understand why you chose your partner and why they trigger you.

The core belief: Your relationship is not a mistake. Your partner is perfectly designed to help you grow.

The Imago Dialogue:

  • Mirroring: "So what I hear you saying is..."
  • Validating: "That makes sense because..."
  • Empathizing: "I imagine you might be feeling..."

Gottman Method

Building Friendship, Managing Conflict, Creating Shared Meaning

Based on 40+ years of research. Dr. Gottman can predict with over 90% accuracy whether a couple will stay together.

The Four Horsemen (Predictors of Divorce):

  • Criticism
  • Contempt (the #1 predictor)
  • Defensiveness
  • Stonewalling

We help you recognize these and replace them with healthier patterns.

Discernment Counselling

When you're uncertain about staying or leaving

A specialized 1-5 session intervention for couples at a crossroads. This is NOT couples therapy—it's about gaining clarity.

Your Three Paths:

  • Keep the status quo
  • Separate or divorce with clarity
  • Commit to 6 months of couples therapy

The Satir Model

A Humanistic Lens for Communication

Developed by Virginia Satir, this model helps understand communication patterns and family-of-origin influences.

Five communication stances under stress:

  • Placating (always agreeing)
  • Blaming (attacking, critical)
  • Super-Reasonable (overly logical)
  • Irrelevant (avoiding)
  • Congruent (authentic, healthy)

Sex Therapy Training

Specialized training in Psychosexual Disorders and certification from the Integrative Sex Therapy Institute (ISTI) to address sexual health concerns with sensitivity and expertise.

My Approach Will Resonate if you:

  • Are willing to look honestly at yourself and your patterns
  • Want to do the work between sessions, not just show up to talk
  • Are open to exploring emotions and body sensations, not just thoughts
  • Value depth and real change over quick fixes
  • Are curious about understanding why you do what you do
  • Are ready to try new approaches, even when they feel uncomfortable

This might not be the right fit if:

  • You're looking for someone to tell you exactly what to do
  • You want advice without self-exploration or personal work
  • You're not open to trying approaches that go beyond talk therapy
  • You're seeking a quick fix without doing deeper work
  • You're not ready to take responsibility for your part in patterns
