The Power of BWRT®
If you've tried to change something about yourself — a pattern you keep repeating, a feeling you can't shake, a way of being in relationships that you know isn't working — and found that understanding it wasn't enough to shift it, it's understandable.
Most of us know, intellectually, what we want to change. The problem is that the patterns holding us back don't live in the part of the brain we think with. They live deeper — in the fast, automatic responses that fire before we've had a chance to choose differently.
This is exactly where BWRT works.
What Is BWRT®?
BWRT® stands for BrainWorking Recursive Therapy® — a model of psychology and psychotherapy created by UK professional therapist Terence Watts, MCGI.
It is unlike any other therapy you may have heard of or experienced. BWRT® uses the latest discoveries in neuroscience combined with your own unique brain processes to create change at the level where patterns are actually held — deep in the neurological architecture that shapes your responses, your emotions, and your sense of self.
It is completely logical, practical, and down-to-earth. There is no hypnosis, nothing mystical or unscientific, and no requirement to revisit painful memories in detail. You remain in a fully conscious state throughout.
Crucially, BWRT® is completely confidential. You do not need to share your personal secrets or private history with your therapist for it to work. You only need to know what you want to change.
Many forms of therapy work primarily with the thinking mind — helping you to understand your patterns, reframe your beliefs, or gain insight into why you feel the way you do.
This is genuinely valuable. But for many people, it only goes so far.
That's because the feelings and responses that cause us the most difficulty — anxiety, shame, low self-worth, the pull towards relationships that aren't good for us — don't originate in conscious thought. They originate in the older, faster-acting structures of the brain: the parts that generate our automatic reactions before we've had a chance to think.
BWRT® works directly with these neurological pathways. Rather than exploring the story of why you feel as you do, it interrupts the pattern itself — and replaces it with something new. The result is change that feels genuine and lasting, not just intellectually understood.

One of the areas where BWRT® produces some of its most profound results is in work around self-esteem — and the way self-worth shapes our relationships.
Most people, when they think about relationship problems, look outward: at their partner's behaviour, at the dynamics between them, at communication or compatibility. But the relational therapist Terry Real, whose work on couples has been transformative for thousands of people, points to something deeper: the relationship we have with ourselves is the foundation of every relationship we have with others.
At the heart of relational pain, Real identifies two states that low self-esteem produces — often in the same person, on different days:
Shame — the collapsed sense of not being enough. This shows up as people-pleasing, difficulty setting limits, losing yourself in relationships, choosing partners who confirm your worst beliefs about yourself, or staying far too long in situations that are making you unhappy.
Grandiosity — the defensive puffing-up that protects against the pain of shame. This can look like contempt, emotional unavailability, the need to always be right, or a self-sufficiency that keeps real intimacy at arm's length.
How BWRT® Addresses Self-Esteem at the Root
Because self-worth is held neurologically — in the fast, automatic sense of self that fires long before conscious thought — simply deciding to feel differently, or even understanding deeply why you don't, rarely creates lasting change.
BWRT® works at the level where the self-worth wound actually lives.
Using specific protocols we target the deep, fast-activating sense of inadequacy — or the defensive grandiosity that masks it — and create new neurological responses in their place.

Many clients notice a significant change after just one or two sessions. Others require a short course of work, particularly for deeper or longer-standing patterns. We will always discuss what is likely to be most helpful for you.

My Own Story
I changed career when most people at that age are winding down for retirement. Before we begin, you can book a complimentary 20-minute Zoom call. This is a relaxed space to discuss what's bringing you here, answer your questions, and see whether we're the right fit to work together. Before our first session, I’ll send over a questionnaire to help me better understand your situation and then challenges you’re facing. This will give you space to reflect and set the stage for deeper, more focused work from the very first meeting.
Booking & Scheduling
Once you receive your preparation email, you'll have access to my online booking system to schedule and manage your session timings. I can work with you online via Zoom or in person, depending on your location and preference.
